This is the Day!

Have you ever said, "time flies!"? As we get older time seems to pick up momentum. Months and years go by faster, yet for a child, time seems slow.

I remember when my brother and sister were at an age where they could get a military id card and I couldn't. It seemed like I would have to wait for an eternity to get one even though it was just a couple of years.

So what has changed? We get the same 24 hours as an adult that we got as a child yet our perception of time has changed.

I wonder if our perception of time as adults might be able to change? The Psalmist proclaims, "That this is the day that Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Each day is a gift from God. Each day is filled with opportunities to experience new life in Christ. "God's mercies are new every day."

I don't know if it is possible for us to retire the phrase, "time flies..." or "where did the month go?" but I do believe that if we take time each day to appreciate the fullness of each day as a gift... time might slow down.
