Apportion? What?

Each Methodist Church each month pays what is called an "apportionment." Many in the church may not even know what an apportionment is. The local church is the local expression of the global church. We are a connectional church meaning that we are bonded together in the name of Jesus with churches all over the world.

We support the global church in many ways. One of these ways is by the giving of our apportionments. Each church gives "a portion" each year to the global church. This money goes to a variety of places that many are not familiar with. One of the ministries that most are familiar with is UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). This ministry of the global church helps those in crisis (such as natural disasters) or chronic need.

Another way we do this is by supporting Africa University based in Zimbabwe. Over its 22 years in existence it has helped over 2000 people receive college degrees.

God is still working good in the church locally and globally! God's presence is still being poured out among us!
